Welcome to Powderhorn National Ski Patrol, proudly serving our community for over 4 decades. Our organization is the Grand Valley's finest. We do not require you to be an expert rider to join—just a strong, stable and avid one who is comfortable on all of Powderhorn’s terrain. Various members use alpine skis, telemark skis, and snowboards.

Ready for the Backcountry?

You've done all the right things. You've taken the avalanche classes, you know how to read the snow pack, you have all the right equipment, beacon, probes, shovel, GPS. You have the latest avalanche forecast. You're prepared and ready for a great ski adventure, Your judgment is sound, you have all the factors covered. There is however, one factor that cannot be trained for or predicted. Don't let the "
